Pussy Willow  Salix discolor

Seedling 18-24 inches

Mature Height: 10-15 feet  Sun:  Full (6 hours of direct light)    Soil:  likes moist and well drained soil.  

Used in screens or as ornamental plants.  Commonly used as a table decoration because of its furry catkins. They are frequently used in flower arrangements. When cut do not put in water if you wish to keep for several years.  In early spring, the silky, furry and silvery catkins open before the leaves appear to signal spring is on the way.  Fast growing.   It is an early source of food for bees and a larval host for many moths and butterflies.
