Smokehouse

Precocious tree produces pleasant dessert apples with a red-striped skin tinged with yellow. Flesh is firm and juicy, perfect for fresh eating, cooking and baking. Lively flavor makes for excellent cider. An heirloom variety, discovered in Pennsylvania around 1837 growing near Mr. Gibbon’s smokehouse. Somewhat resistant to fireblight, cold-hardy, reliable and productive, stores well. Late season bloomer. Ripens in September.
