Best grown in well drained spot in full sun. Does well in sandy soil but can grow in clay that is on a slope or hill for drainage. Does not tolerate saturated soil conditions. It does well in a high pH soils. This variety is a popular heirloom variety. Mary Washington Asparagus produces uniform spears and a heavy yield. This perennial vegetable is disease-resistant to rust, it is extremely cold-hardy and heat-tolerant, making it a low-maintenance. It is harvested in April or May. Please note that you should not harvest your asparagus bed until it is three years old.
